Operation and maintenance instructions
Industrial luminaires
These instructions do not claim to cover all details or variations of luminaries or accessories, or to
provide for every possible contingency to be met in connection with installation, operation or
maintenance. More detailed operation and maintenance instructions can be found on our website at
www.i-valo.com or requested from your salesperson.
• Any defective bulb must immediately be replaced with a new one.
• Verify the appropriate bulb type from the luminaire’s rating label. The bulb type
stated in the label and the connecting device must match each other.
•
Familiarize yourself with the user guide that comes with the lamp.
•
Follow the lamp manufacturer’s instructions for burning hours and economical
service lifetime. “Group relamping” of luminaries is recommended.
•
E40 lamp holders are equipped with a safety spring, twist the new lamp firmly into
the lamp holder.
• Any luminaire that does not have a bulb inside must be disconnected from the
power outlet!
6. LAMP REPLACEMENT
ENGLISH
• The external surfaces of the luminaire should be regularly cleaned of dirt, thus
ensuring effective operation. A thick layer of dust on top of the luminaire increases
its internal temperature and shortens the service life of the electrical components.
•
I-Valo’s industrial luminaires are sealed and pressure-tested, and they are equipped
with highly efficient equalisation air filtering. This means that it is not usually
necessary to clean the inside of the luminaire. If, however, you decide to clean the
inside of the luminaire do not use any abrasive agents, in order to avoid scratching
the reflector.
•
If necessary, clean the outside surface of the luminaire with neutral detergents,
e.g. dish washing agent. These are also suitable for cleaning the glass and
polycarbonate parts of the luminaires.
• It is absolutely prohibited to use a high-pressure washer for cleaning the
luminaires.
Pressurized water can easily damage the luminaire, especially an
uncovered filter.
•
Check the sealings when changing the lamp and clean them if necessary.
• Make sure that the cover is properly in place and that all latches are closed tightly.
4. CLEANING
•
The luminaire may be installed only by a qualified electrician,
in accordance with
local legislation.
•
The operating voltage should be 230V ±3%. Temporarily, a maximum fluctuation
of ±5% is allowed. Sudden changes of over ±10% in mains voltage may lead to
inoperative lamps.
•
All I-Valo luminaires are always supplied with either a complete mounting rail or
with installation holes drilled in the frame. No other holes may be made in the
frame.
• The condition of the mounting rail and bracket should be checked in conjunction
with bulb replacement.
1. INSTALLATION
•
The luminaire may be used only in the environment for which it is intended in
accordance with the rating label.
•
The luminaire must not be operated without its front glass or pc/acrylic cover.
• If the front glass or pc/acrylic cover gets broken, it must be replaced
immediately.
2. OPERATION
60 sec!
•
Disconnect the luminaire from the power supply before any maintenance operation.
• Wait 60 seconds until the capacitors are fully discharged.
•
The luminaire components will take several minutes to cool.
3. MAINTENANCE
• If a luminaire component breaks for any
reason, it must immediately be replaced with
a similar component.
• The rating plate indicates the electrical values
and appropriate light source for the luminaire.
• Remember to check the condition of
the electrical components and wiring in
conjunction with every bulb replacement; at
the same time, you should also replace any
other wearing parts of the luminaire.
• The indicative service life of the components is
as follows: igniter 40,000 hrs, capacitors 40,000
hrs, ballast 50,000 hrs
• We recommend use of the

PACK
spare parts. This will ensure that you have the correct components in your
luminaire and secure energy-efficient and faultless operation of the luminaire
in the future. For more information about spare parts packs, please contact your
local reseller.
•
• Do not change electrical connections or the location of the components!
7. CHANGING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
•
In normal industrial surroundings the condition of filters should be checked every
time the lamps are changed. It is recommendable to replace the filter concurrently
with every second lamp change, or more often if the conditions require.
•
In I-VALO luminaires, a number of filter types are used. Choose the filter type in
accordance with the luminaire’s end use.
