Additional electricity consumers
7.3.1
General considerations
Usually, the Body Builder needs to connect additional electricity consumers and
electronic devices belonging to the body to the vehicle‘s original electrical system.
These connections should be made only through the connection points enabled by
HMC in the basic vehicle.
It is important to follow the instructions contained in this manual correctly, as the
slightest anomaly can cause full or partial system failures, which might even cause
the complete stoppage of the vehicle.
These connection points are intended to avoid any disruption in the original electri
-
cal system of the vehicle, in order to keep it functioning properly, and so maintain
the warranty period. HMC provides the position of the earth points which are avail
-
able for the Body Builder. The arrangement, type and quantity of these connections
will vary, depending on vehicle model and customer requirements.
When connecting additional electricity consumers, some important aspects must be
taken into account:
- No existing connection is disconnected to connect an additional consumer in its
place.
- Direct connection of any equipment to the battery is not allowed.
- No existing wires should ever be cut or manipulated, nor should splices or
extensions be made.
- The new wires must have an adequate section for the current in use.
See chapter 7.2.2 "Wire features".
- Every new electrical circuit must be protected by a fuse with the proper fea
-
tures and capacity.
See chapter 7.2.3 "Fuse features".
- Never connect auxiliary consumers to fuses already occupied. Additional fuses
must be provided.
- No modifications of any kind are allowed in the control units.
NOTICE
Any connection of auxiliary equipment or additional circuits in the vehicle‘s
electrical system by disconnecting the original wires or by splices is prohibited.
Any direct connection to the vehicle‘s control units is also prohibited. Connections
must only be made through the points allocated for this purpose.
