5.4.12 Aerial platforms
General considerations
Aerial platforms can be found in many different versions, with different load capac
-
ities, height reached and movements. Therefore, before installing an aerial platform
it must be checked, to see whether it is suitable for the vehicle model chosen.
Fig. 5-142 SPBGC54_028 Vehicle with aerial platform
For aerial platforms, the maximum permissible length of the rear overhang is of par
-
ticular importance.
See chapter 2.3.6 "Vehicle overhang".
The Body Builder must check that the main dimensions of the final vehicle are within
the permissible limits.
See chapter 2.3.2 "Vehicle main dimensions".
An aerial platform can be mounted in a panel van as well as in a chassis cab. Before
starting the conversion work on the vehicle, it is recommended that the free space
for mounting should be verified, and a complete plan for proper installation of the
aerial platform made.
NOTICE
- The operation of the aerial platform must not prevent or hinder the operation
of other equipment installed in the vehicle.
- The Body Builder is responsible for monitoring the safety and stability of the
vehicle. The stability must be controlled in every operating condition of the
aerial platform.
