HOSES, REPLACE
Read and follow the Safety Procedures When Work-
ing Near Mast, as well as all WARNINGS and CAU-
TIONS. See Figure 18 and Figure 19.
1.
To replace any hydraulic hoses, fully lower the
carriage. Make sure the system does not have hy-
draulic pressure. Hold the control (for each func-
tion) in the forward position for approximately 5
seconds to release the pressure. Make sure the
hydraulic pump does NOT operate. Move the key
to the OFF position. Disconnect the battery and
put a tag or lock on the battery connector.
NOTE:
Access can be difficult for some fittings. If nec-
essary, operate the system to move mast weldments
or the carriage. Make sure to follow the Safety Pro-
cedures When Working Near Mast after moving com-
ponents BEFORE starting work. Make sure the sys-
tem does not have pressure as described in Step 1.
2.
Disconnect hose and install caps to prevent dirt
from entering the hydraulic system.
3.
Replace the hose. Operate the system to remove
all the air from the oil and to check for leaks.
HOSE AND CABLE SHEAVES, REPLACE
Read and follow the Safety Procedures When Work-
ing Near Mast as well as all WARNINGS and CAU-
TIONS. See Figure 19 and Figure 20.
NOTE:
The following procedures describe how to re-
place the hose and cable sheaves without removing
the carriage or mast assembly from the lift truck. If
the mast assembly has been removed, carefully move
the carriage inner or intermediate weldments using
a pry bar as necessary.
Free-Lift Hose Sheave
WARNING
The mast weldments can move and cause an
injury even if the mast assembly has been re-
moved from the lift truck. Make sure the mast
assembly is level to prevent the components
from moving without being moved. Use safety
chains to prevent movement after components
are in the correct position.
Remove the sheave for the hose to the free-lift cylin-
der as follows:
1.
Fully retract the forks if the reach carriage is in-
stalled. Move the key to the OFF position. Dis-
connect the battery and put a tag or lock on the
battery connector. Install safety chains between
the tops of the inner and outer carriage weld-
ments of the reach carriage to prevent carriage
operation.
2.
Operate the LIFT/LOWER control to raise the in-
ner weldment. Use safety chains to fasten the
carriage and inner weldment so that they cannot
move and so that the bottom of the inner weld-
ment is approximately 60 cm (2 ft) off the floor.
3.
Lower the carriage so the safety chains are the
support for the carriage and inner weldment.
The lift hose for the free-lift cylinder must not
have tension.
4.
Remove the snap ring, washer, free-lift hose
sheave, and spacer at the bottom of the interme-
diate weldment. See Figure 20.
5.
Follow the reverse procedure to install the hose
sheave for the free-lift cylinder.
