Setting 6: Push to talk (PTT) mode on/off flag
Pushing the button 6x in SETUP MODE will toggle the PTT mode on and off. PTT mode is off by default. The
PTT mode disables the VOX circuitry so you will only be able to talk through the speaker when you press the remote
pushbutton and hold it in. After the board detects you have held the pushbutton down for more than ½ sec, it will
open the mic and allow you to talk. When you release the button, the mic is automatically closed and a click/static
sound will play out (if they are enabled). PTT mode is best used if the VOX circuit is false triggering too much for
you, VOX circuit is opening the mic too long resulting in feedback, or if you just want absolute control of when the
mic opens and closes (can be used for secure comm also). Pushing the button 6x a second time will disable PTT
mode and turn the VOX circuit back on.
Setting 7: Reset all settings to default
Pushing the button 8x will reset all the saved settings in the trooper board back to their default values. See Table 1.
for the default settings. If you ever want to reprogram the user settings for your board (as outlined in Section C), or
just go back to the default settings, this feature allows you to do that.
FX MODE
The standard mode of the trooper board is FX MODE. When you power on the unit, it automatically goes into FX
MODE. In this mode you can trigger one of 4 sound effects, toggle the PTT mode, and play out a random blaster
sound sequence.

Button presses 1-4 will playback each of the stored sound effects. In FX MODE, you can also enable/disable the
PTT mode at will so you don’t have to power off the unit to change from VOX to PTT mode. This is useful if you
are in a very noisy environment and want to better control your voice output by enabling PTT mode on the fly.
Random blaster playback mode:
Pressing the button 5x in FX MODE triggers a special “easter egg” mode which we like to call the “Weapons
Malfunction” mode! The board responds by stitching together random number of sounds in a barrage of blaster
fire!! It is a fun mode to use while reenacting your favorite fight scene or just getting some much-needed attention.
The number of blaster sounds stitched together is different each time.
