The advantage of this filter is that dynamic systems can be displayed very
well. This enables filtering of vibration long-lasting dynamic situations very
efficiently and will not lead to a drift of the output signal.
The limitation in this type of filter is the fact that it can not be monitored within the measuring
system. Therefore, this filter
cannot provide any status information
for the evaluation of
the accurracy of the currently detected inclination signal.
Based on our experience with machines, it can be assumed that the average systemic de-
viation from the true inclination value in dynamic situations can be 0.5° to 2°. The maximum
deviation, however, strongly depends on the behaviour of the used machine.
By providing an externally detected motion signal, the calculation of the compensated incli-
nation signal can be improved in certain situations. For this purpose, the EKF implementa-
tion of the HIT 1500 provides an optional speed input. For further information regarding this
signal, please see the related protocol description.
11.1.3. Special cases
11.1.3.1. Limited measuring range
If exceeding the limited measurement range in a measurement system with a limited mea-
suring range, the value jumps to the relevant directional maximum end value of the relevant
axis, which means + or -180°, or + or -90°. For the examination of the measured value limit,
a tolerance of 1° is used as a basis.
Figure 6 indicates the relation between the actual inclination of the measuring system and
the inclination signal which is given out.
