Starter
Attach the new starter cord to the starter
pulley and wind it 4 turns anticlockwise
around the starter pulley.
Slide the starter pulley over the bearing pin.
Mount the starter cord in the starter pulley and
make sure the knot in the cord fi ts entirely
in the compartment.
Wind the cord 4 turns anticlockwise around
the starter pulley.
Lubricate the bearing pin with some grease
and slide the starter pulley downwards to
that the spring rests against the stop lug on
the bearing pin.
Assemble the starter handle.
Tie a double knot and fold under the free end.
Pull the knot fully into the handle.
Fit the pressure equalisation spring, the drive
disc, the screw and the washer. The pressure equalisation spring must be
placed in position so that the short spring
end is inserted into the starter pulley.
Place the drive disc over the pressure
equalisation spring.
Fit the screw and the washer (A).
Tension the return spring.
Check the spring tension.
Fit the starter on the engine body.
Tension the return spring.
Pull the starter cord out completely and slow
the starter pulley with your thumb.
Lift the cord into the notch on the starter
pulley.
Now turn the starter pulley anticlockwise,
4 turns.
Check the spring tension. With the starter
cord fully extended it should still be possible
to turn the starter pulley further, at least a
half turn.
Fit the starter on the engine body and check
that the drive dog engages.
Assemble the starter handle.
