DISPOSAL OF OLD APPLIANCES

BE SURE TO MAKE ANY LOCKS UNUSABLE.  IF POSSIBLE, REMOVE THE
DOOR(S) AND DISCARD SEPARATELY.
WARNING – CHEMICAL HAZARD: DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY
WITH THE OLD APPLIANCE. CONTACT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITY FOR
PROPER DISPOSAL PROCEDURES.

Before disposing of an old appliance, please make sure it is switched off and safe. Unplug the
appliance and break any locks in order to avoid children becoming trapped.

Please note:

the cooling system contains gases and refrigerants which require specialist

waste disposal.
Contact your local waste disposal depot for proper disposal of an old appliance and contact
your local authority if you have any questions.
Please ensure the pipework of your appliance is not damaged prior to disposal.

DISPOSAL OF PACKAGING

All the packaging materials with your Husky appliance may be disposed of without danger to
the environment.
The cardboard carton and polythene wrappers are recyclable – check with your local authority
for the best recycling options. The expanded polystyrene materials included in the packaging can
be placed in general waste.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE PLUGGED INTO AN EARTHED SOCKET.

•   Before switching on, make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same

as that on the rating plate.  This  appliance is designed to operate on 220~240V AC;
50Hz.  Connection to any other power source may damage the appliance

•   This appliance may be fitted with a non-rewireable  plug.  If it is necessary to change

the fuse in the plug, the fuse cover must be refitted.  If the fuse cover is lost or
damaged, the plug must not be used until  a suitable replacement is found

•   If the plug has to be changed, because it not suitable for your socket or becomes

damaged in any way, it should be replaced by a qualified electrician.  The plug removed
must be disposed of safely as insertion into a 13 Amp socket could cause an electrical
hazard

•  Always remember to unplug your appliance before cleaning.

HOW TO MINIMISE THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF YOUR

HUSKY APPLIANCE

•   Energy consumption will be lower if the appliance stands in a well ventilated space and

in particular if the vent at the back of the appliance is clear of obstruction

•   Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight or near a heat source such as ovens,

radiators, heaters, etc as this will increase energy consumption

•  Keep the door closed as much as possible

•   Setting the thermostat cooler (towards the highest number on the dial) means higher

energy consumption, so set only as cool as you really require

•   Do not overfill the appliance - overfilling means the cool air cannot circulate freely inside

the cabinet which may slow the process of cooling and make the cabinet less efficient

•   Defrost the appliance if frost can be seen building up inside - frost will increase energy

consumption and make the cooling process slower (see section ‘Defrosting’)

•   Turn the appliance off completely if it is not required for a period of days or longer to

avoid wasting energy (see also section ‘When not in use’).

HANDLING YOUR APPLIANCE

This appliance uses R600a (Isobutane) natural refrigerant gas as part of its cooling system.
R600a is environmentally friendly but can be combustible.  Care should therefore be taken
when handling or transporting the product to ensure that none of the refrigeration circuit
components are damaged.
To lift the appliance safely, tilt it backwards by no more than 45 degrees, hold the base and rear
corners of the appliance carefully.  Never use the door handles for lifting.
To move the appliance on a flat level surface, please note the warning on page 3 to avoid
damaging your surface.
This appliance is heavy and could cause injury.  Ensure there are adequate people present to
move the appliance.

POSITIONING YOUR APPLIANCE

•  Ensure that the appliance is situated:

  •  Away from direct sunlight and in a dry and well-ventilated space

  •   Away from stoves, ovens, radiators and any other heating appliances

  •   With a recommendation of at least 15cm clearance around the appliance

•   Do not position the appliance in conservatories or outbuildings with extreme high or

low ambient temperatures

•  Do not use outdoors or leave in rain

•  Do not place anything on your appliance

•   The appliance must be used in the vertical position and stand on an even, flat surface

for quieter operation

•   If your appliance is to be to be placed on carpet, support it with a wooden board

underneath.  Be aware that placing the appliance on carpet may mean that heat from
the compressor may cause the carpet to fade

•  Ensure that the plug is easily accessible.
