11.30 Changing the glass fiber yarn filling of the main silencer

Warning
Danger of burns The exhaust system gets very hot when the vehicle is driven.
–
Allow the exhaust system to cool down. Do not touch hot components.
Info
Over time, the fibers of the glass fiber yarn filling escape and the damper "burns" out.
Not only is the noise level higher, the performance characteristic changes.
Preparatory work
–
Remove the right side cover. ( p. 56)
–
Remove the main silencer. ( p. 55)

Main work
–
Remove screws

. Pull out inner tube

–
Pull the glass fiber yarn filling

from the inner tube.
–
Clean the parts that are to be reinstalled.
–
Mount the new glass fiber yarn filling

on the inner tube.
–
Slide outer tube

over the inner tube with the new glass fiber yarn filling.
–
Mount and tighten all screws

Finishing work
–
Install the main silencer. ( p. 55)
–
Install the right side cover. ( p. 57)

Pull off the side cover in area

sideways and remove it toward the rear.
