Start by passing the elasticated chest
strap through the loops inside the chest
belt. Put the belt round the patient's
waist and tighten the chest strap. Fasten
the chest belt. You can do this when the
patient is lying down or sitting. The more
you tighten the chest strap, the better
the position of the sling when you lift the
patient.
The chest belt can be used separately for support during walking, standing and balance
exercises. If only the back lifting straps are used, the patient will be leaning slightly forward. He/
she will be more upright if all four straps are used. The front lifting straps can either be attached
to the lift bar or the front hook if the lift is fitted with a three-point suspension system.
For increased safety, the groin support
can be attached to the chest belt. The
groin support also keeps the chest belt in
place and prevents it from sliding up.
