Prerequisites for VADB setup and operation
The following are required for VADB setup and operation:
• The satellite router must be configured for VADB operation. If the customer ordered VADB,
the router is automatically configured for VADB during commissioning. A router can also
be upgraded to support VADB operation after initial installation. To verify that the router
is configured for VADB operation, see
Verifying VADB configuration on page 58.
• The installation site must have an analog telephone line available to support VADB operation.
A dedicated line is preferred but is not required. The HN9500 can share a phone line with
other devices if a splitter connector is used.
• The satellite router must be activated.
Setting up VADB
Setting up VADB setup consists of the following tasks:
• Verify that the satellite router is configured for VADB.
• Test the satellite router’s VADB components.
• Test the telephone line.
• Connect the satellite router to the telephone line.
• Verify VADB functionality.
Verifying VADB configuration
After installing and commissioning the router, verify that the router is configured for VADB:
1. On the installer laptop, launch a web browser and open the Advanced Pages.
If you do not know how to open the Advanced Pages, see
Accessing the Advanced Pages on
page 104.
2. In the Advanced Menu (in the left panel of the Advanced Configuration and Statistics screen),
click
Vadb → VADB Client Status to view the VADB Client Status Result page ( Figure
36: Verifying the VADB configuration on page 59).
