The UL safety certification provides multiple types of services, including the following:
LISTED
Classification
Recognized
7.3.1 LISTED
The UL LISTED service is the best known service of the UL certification. If a product is with
the UL label, it indicates that the UL has tested the samples provided by the manufacturer
according to the American safety standards. The samples do not cause any predictable fire,
creepage, or other dangers.
7.3.2 Classification
The UL tests product samples according to different features, in the specified danger range, or
under specific conditions. In general, most of the classified products are construction
materials or industrial instruments. The classified products include industrial products and
commercial products. For these products, some specified features must be tested, such as
inflammability, hazardous performance, or government specifications.
7.3.3 Recognized
This service indicates that components or unfinished products can get the UL approval. These
components are used in the products with the UL lable. This service covers millions of
plastics, wires, circuit boards, various finished products, even some large components, such as
motorcycles or power supplies.
7.4 RoHS
This topic describes the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive that the
product complies with.
The product passes the RoHS certification and the contents of hazardous substances in the
product comply with SJ/T-11363-2006 Requirements for concentration limits for certain
hazardous substances in electronic information products.
