Software Upgrade
Can I upgrade MediaPad online? If yes, how?
MediaPad can be upgraded online through either HUAWEI OTA (HOTA) or Google OTA
(GOTA). HOTA is easier to manage (Huawei has complete control), while GOTA has a
broader network coverage.
HOTA servers are not deployed all around the world yet. The deployment is ongoing,
and will be eventually achieved in eight major regions all over the world. If you are in an
area without HOTA servers, you may need to upgrade your MediaPad using an
international server. As a result of the restriction of bandwidth and ports, the
downloading speed is low.
You can choose either HOTA or GOTA, or both. If you choose both HOTA and GOTA,
you will need to determine which to use for deployment the first time you upgrade your
system using OTA.
Will data be erased if I upgrade MediaPad?
No.
How will I be informed of the system upgrades?
When an update is available, you will be prompted to choose whether to download the
upgrade package.
If you choose to upgrade, the upgrade package will be downloaded in the background,
after which you will be prompted again to restart your MediaPad to complete the upgrade.
