3.5.2 Configuration Principles for the CPRI Ports on the RFU in the
GSM Only Base Station
When a base station works in GSM mode, the DRFUs/GRFUs in the slots of the cabinet are
connected to the CPRI ports on the GTMU.
Basic CPRI Port Connection Principles
l The DRFU/GRFU supports star and chain topologies.
l The DRFUs can be connected over the CPRI ports with a maximum of three levels of
cascading, the GRFUs can be connected over the CPRI ports with a maximum of two levels
of cascading, and the DRFUs and GRFUs can be connected over the CPRI ports with a
maximum of two levels of cascading. The data transmission rates over the CPRI ports of
the cascaded DRFUs/GRFUs are the same.
l The DRFUs/GRFUs cannot be connected to the RRU.

CPRI Port Configuration Principles
l Each CPRI port on the GTMU corresponds to a sector.
l The CRPI1 port on the DRFU is connected to the GTMU, and the CPRI0 port is connected
to the lower-level RFU.
l The CRPI0 port on the GRFU is connected to the GTMU, and the CPRI1 port is connected
to the lower-level RFU.
l
The CPRI port configuration principles in a base station with a single cabinet are shown in
Figure 3-20 and listed in Table 3-14 . The CPRI ports corresponding to an idle slot in the
cabinet are idle.
