competent person who has read and understood
these instructions.
There is a serious risk of personal injury if you do
not follow all instructions laid down in this guide.
Safety Goggles MUST be worn by everyone in
the work area.
Some materials when cut contain substances
which, when inhaled, can be harmful to
health. A suitable mask must be worn when using
this equipment.
This equipment generates potentially harmful
noise levels.
To comply with health and safety at
work regulations,
ear defenders must be worn by
everyone in the vicinity.
Wear practical, protective clothing, gloves
and footwear.
Avoid loose garments and

long hair.
Always switch OFF and unplug the equipment
when not in use.
Take special care when changing cutters – they
are sharp.
Make sure you know how to switch this machine

in case you get
into difficulty.
Always unplug the tool before making adjustments
to it.

Most HSS laminate trimmers plug into a standard
13amp power socket.
However,
110V units
(with a
round yellow plug)
must be provided with a suitable
110V generated supply,
or powered from the mains
via a suitable 110V transformer.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
GENERAL SAFETY
If the equipment fails, or if its flex or plug gets
damaged, return it.
Never try to repair it yourself.
Keep flexes out of harm’s way,
and clear of
moving parts.
Extension leads should be fully unwound and
loosely coiled, away from the equipment.
Never run
them through water, over sharp edges or where they
could trip someone.
Using electrical equipment in very damp or wet
conditions can be dangerous.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, use a
suitable RCD
(Residual Current-Operated Device)
available from your local HSS Hire Shop, or power
equipment from a mains circuit with a built-in RCD.
Never carry or pull the equipment by its flex.
Ensure the equipment and power socket are
switched OFF before plugging into the
power supply.
Before using a
laminate trimmer,
select the correct
cutter
for the job. Our
staff will be happy to
advise you.
To fit the cutter,
switch OFF and
unplug the tool, use
the smaller spanner
provided
to stop the
spindle turning.
That done,
use the
larger spanner to
open the lock nut,
then wearing
gloves, push the
cutter’s shank into the collett and re-tighten
the lock
nut to hold the cutter firmly in place.
Next, set the depth of cut. Loosen the wing nut on
the outer sleave, then turn the adjuster
until the
outer sleeve base plate is in line with the base of the cutter.
Reset the outer sleeve so that the cutter protrudes
2mm greater than the thickness of the laminate,
then lock in position with the wing nut.
Finally, set either the guide fence or the roller guide
as required
using the small thumbscrews on the side of
the tool’s body.
For accuracy,
the roller guide should be used to
control the distancing of the cutter from the edge
GETTING STARTED
of the workpiece.
This ensures that the cutter is only
in contact with the waste laminate and not the
finished work.
