3. Handling
1. Hanging
The main hanger must be able to follow the tool’s
movements. The hooks movements must not be
hampered!
The balancer must be hung in such a manner that it
may not fall due to a sudden spring reaction.
Please note:
A secondary hanger (see sketch) must
be used for safety reasons.
2. Selection
When selecting the type of balancer not only the weight
of the tool but also the weight of the connection wire
must be taken into consideration.
Example:
tool + cable = gross weight
3 kg + 1 kg = 4 kg
(Not the weight of the complete cable must be used for
calculation but only the part which is held by the balancer!)
In this case choose a TSB-5 for the weight range of
2.5 – 5 kg.
Please note:
If a tool fits two types of balancers choose
the bigger type.
3. Spring Adjustment
Adjust the spiral spring by turning the spindle (10)
to ensure that it conforms to the hung load. Turn it to the
right to increase the load and to the left to decrease the
load (Fig. 2). The factory setting is the mean load range.
Please note:
The spring should be set to the exact capacity
level. Setting the spring in excess of the capacity will cause it
to be tightened more than required, making it difficult to obtain
the desired stroke, and possibly shortening its life. If the spring
is set under capacity the cable will not be fully wound, providing
a shorter stroke and an improper balance.
Caution:
Never completely relieving the spring since otherwise the spring can have been put up.
