Appendix D Cooling system
The cooling system of the switch includes air vents in the chassis, fan trays, and fans of power
modules. To guarantee effective operation of this cooling system, you must consider the site
ventilation design when you plan the installation site for the switch.
You must install six fan trays of the same model for the switch: HPE X712 HV2 fan tray or HPE X711
HV2 fan tray.
x
When the HPE X712 HV2 fan trays are used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the fan
tray and power module panels, carries heat dissipated from the chassis and power modules,
and exhausts through the air vents in the port-side panel, as shown in
Figure 46
.
x
When the HPE X711 HV2 fan trays are used, ambient air flows in through the air vents in the
port-side panel and power module panels, carries heat dissipated from the chassis and power
modules, and exhausts through the air vents in the fan tray panels, as shown in
Figure 47
.
The chassis and the power modules use separate air aisles. Make sure both aisles are not blocked.
