Windows Storage Server 2012 or 2012 R2 Standard Edition comes preinstalled and activated
on the HP StoreEasy 3830 Storage. Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Standard Edition comes
preinstalled and activated on HP StoreEasy 3840 Storage. The storage system configuration also
includes the HP Initial Configuration Tasks window, Windows Server Manager, and HP StoreEasy
tools, which are used to set up and manage your storage system.
NOTE:
Windows Storage Server 2012 or 2012 R2 Standard Edition is installed in Server with
a GUI mode by default. You can switch to Server Core Installation mode; however, Server Core
Installation mode is only supported on an HP StoreEasy Storage system when the operating
environment does not require user interaction (such as in a data center). Any activity that requires
the use of a GUI must be done in Server with a GUI mode. For more information about installation

The Initial Configuration Tasks window assists during the initial out of box setup by configuring
items such as time zone, networking, domain join, and provisioning storage. Select

to create virtual disks and place volumes on the virtual
disks. Also, the
Windows Server Manager

Tools
→
HP StoreEasy
menu provides a collection of
HP and Microsoft utilities that are useful for managing the storage system.
