A group statement prin ts the v alue of a data item, the v alue in a register (Rn ), or a series of
c haracters whenev er a con trol break o ccurs.

P arameters
level is an in teger from 1 to 10 corresp onding to the level of a sort statement.
print element (1) is the name of a simple data item or a comp ound data item with an
optional ( subscript ) parameter. Data items can b e qualied with the data
base and data set to whic h they b elong. The form is:

( subscript )

dummy data set name is a temp orary data set name used in m ultiple data set
access. (Refer to JOIN command.)
subscript is a n um b er indicating whic h sub-item to access. Subscript is
en tered in paren thesis and m ust b e an in teger > 1 and <= the n um b er of
sub-items dened for the comp ound item. QUER Y will default to the rst
sub-item if no subscript is sp ecied.
(2) is the con ten ts of a register (Rn ).
(3) is a series of c haracters enclosed in quotation marks. Y ou m ust sp ecify the
quotation marks, but QUER Y will strip them when it prin ts the c haracters.
