Appendix A: Network switch configuration
Hewlett Packard Enterprise switches
This section describes how to configure a 3-node HC380 appliance with a pair of HPE
5900A-48XG-4QSFP+ switches.
Network cabling
The following table shows an example 10GbE networking connectivity to two HPE
5900AF-48XG-4QSFP+ switches configured with HPE Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF)+.

In addition to the 10GbE connectivity needs, the HPE Integrated Lights Out connection on each DL also
needs to be connected and configured on the same management network as the 10GbE Ports on the
DLs. There are several ways to do this, for example connecting the 1GbE connections to an existing
1GbE switch that is on the same Layer 2 management network (VLAN) as the 10GbE components. You
could also insert an X120 1G SFP RJ45 Transceiver (JD089B) in to the HPE 5900AF-48XG-4QSFP+
switch and use ports on the switches for the iLOs as well.
The following table shows the 1GbE RJ45 connections required for a three-node 10GbE based HC380
solution.
