WEP is supported in both infrastructure and ad hoc
mode. For WEP to work properly, you must use the
same encryption level and keys on all your PCs, access
points, and media receivers. Check the WEP settings
on your access point or PC, then write down the
encryption level and WEP keys.
To configure the media receiver for WEP:
1. Press
options
2. Select
Network Setup
3. Highlight
Wireless Encryption
and press the
right arrow
4. Select
Encryption
and choose
off
,
64 (40) Bit
, or
128 (104) Bit
.
5. Select
Key #1
and enter the WEP key. An
onscreen keyboard will appear for entering the
key. Entering the colon separator
:
is optional.
6. Enter
Key #2
,
Key #3
, and
Key #4
if needed
7. Press the left arrow to exit the encryption options
8. Select
Apply Changes
to apply the network
changes
Some network devices allow the use of a text
passphrase for the WEP key. After you enter the
passphrase on that device, view the encryption keys
that were generated. Write down the keys and enter
them into the
Key
fields on the media receiver.
Note:
If you have trouble connecting to the media
server after enabling WEP, verify you have entered the
keys correctly. The keys can be long and input errors
are easy to make.
