Removal and replacement procedures
Switch cover
Before removing the switch cover, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (
“Battery” on page 4-7
).
5. Remove the hard drive (
“Hard drive” on page 4-10
).
6. Remove the wireless module (
“Wireless module” on page 4-14
).
7. Remove the keyboard (
“Keyboard” on page 4-17
).
Remove the switch cover:
1. In the battery bay, remove the 2 Phillips PM 2.5×8.0 screws

, 6 Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screws

, and the
5 Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws

that secure the cover to the computer. The switch cover screws are identified by
a triangle icon embossed on the base enclosure.
2. Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.
3. Open the computer as far as possible.
