Before removing the switch cover, follow these steps:

.

Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the

computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

.

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3

.

Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and

then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

.

Remove the battery (see 

Battery on page 41

).

.

Release the keyboard (see 

Keyboard on page 56

).

Remove the switch cover:

NOTE:

Step 1 applies only to HP Compaq 6715b computer models.

Release the ZIF connector 

(1)

 to which the LED board cable is attached and disconnect the LED board

cable 

(2)

 from the system board.

Insert a flat-bladed tool into one of the four slots 

(3)

 in the switch cover and lift the switch cover

(4)

 until it disengages from the computer.

.

Remove the switch cover.

Reverse this procedure to install the switch cover.
