Access panel
Before removing the access panel, follow these steps:

Prepare the computer for disassembly ( Preparation for disassembly on page 16 ).
Remove the access panel:
1. Loosen the thumbscrew (1) on the rear panel of the access panel.
2. Slide the access panel (2) toward you, and then lift if off the computer.
To install the access panel, reverse the removal procedure.
Optical drive

Hard drives, 2.5 inch:
1 TB, 7200 rpm, hard drive, SSHD (hybrid SSD)
500 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive
500 GB, SSHD (hybrid SSD)
Grommet, hard drive
Before removing the optical drive, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly ( Preparation for disassembly on page 16 ).
2. Remove the access panel ( Access panel on page 17 ).
Remove the optical drive:
1. Disconnect the optical drive power cable (1) and data cable (2) from the optical drive rear panel.
2. Press the release lever next to the rear of the optical drive outward (3).
