IMPORTANT – Only apply small single drops of light machine oil to the places indicated in red in Fig.2, 3. This is best achieved by making a simple oil ‘dropper’ as illustrated in Fig.1. Insert a straightened paper clip into a cork and use a
bottle cap as a container for the oil. A small drop of oil can then be picked up by the dropper and applied in exactly the right place. Immediately wipe off any excess oil, especially from the locomotive body. Only lubricate moving parts.

Turn locomotive upside down and remove the assembly screw that holds the Live and Plastic
Drawbar to the chassis. Remove bogie securing screw and then remove the assembly screw
as shown in Fig. 4. Carefully lift the body from the chassis (Fig. 5.) without disturbing the
position of the cylinder block. Immediately secure the cylinder block in place with a piece of
clear adhesive tape. (Fig. 6.) Please keep the screws and components safe for re-assembly.
Place the contact spring in position on the chassis assembly and carefully lower body onto
chassis (Fig. 7). Then refit bogie spring with screw. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to lift the
coils of the drawbar contact spring to allow both drawbars to be slid into position underneath
it, through the lower slot. (Fig. 8) (Remember that the metal drawbar must be underneath
when the tender is right way up). Then refit assembly screw and bogie.
