This Section explains what wires are required to connect the Symphony.
The following wire connection is required for Symphony operation:
•
4-conductor to control panel
•
Category 5 Ethernet connection to the network router
4-conductor to control panel
This may be a standard 4-conductor security wire:
•
You may use 22AWG for up to 100’ from the power supply
•
You may use 18AWG for up to 250’ from the power supply
•
You may use 16AWG for up to 400’ from the power supply
Connections
:
1.
+12VDC – From power supply
2.
+12VDC – From Control Panel (Can share from Terminal 1)
3.
Ground – From power supply.
BE SURE TO HAVE COMMON GROUND BETWEEN THE POWER SUPPLY AND CONTROL
PANEL GROUND.
4.
Data In – To Data In terminal on control panel
5.
Data Out – To Data Out terminal on control panel
Note:
•
Power input to Pin 1 provides power for back light operation of keypad. You can use alternate power
source or same power source used on pin 2.
•
Only wiring pin 2 will result in dim back light and reduced life of the back light, so pin 1 must be powered
under normal conditions.
Category 5 Ethernet connection to the network router
•
This connection is required for a network connection for Internet features.
•
Category 5 (4 twisted pair – 24AWG) – Connects from RJ45 plug on back of Symphony and runs to the
network router/hub/etc…
Note: Internet connection is not required for Symphony keypad to operate
