You have the option of rack-mounting the DVR. Leave at least a one-inch space on the
sides of the rack for ventilation.

Plug the supplied power cord from the rear of the Multi-Media DVR to a grounded
power supply, preferably through an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
Caution
Do not block the air intakes on the side of a Multi-Media DVR. A warning
sticker indicates this on the right-hand side of the DVR.
Do not place equipment, such as a monitor, directly on top of the
Multi-Media DVR.
Connectors for Serial Communications on Ports 1 to 8
The wiring for the RJ45 connectors on a Multi-Media DVR’s PORT 1 to PORT 8 is listed in

DVR Hard Disk and S.M.A.R.T.
Hard disk use on the DVR for storing video, audio and data is monitored for signs of
degradation that can lead to failure. Degradation is reported on a Multi-Media DVR blue
LCD screen as
CRITICAL STATE: DISK FAILURE
. This degradation report is also a
Multi-Media event: S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring Analysis and Recording Technology).
