Loosen the terminal screws, slip each wire
beneath its matching terminal, and tighten
screw until all wires have been connected.
If you have not done so already, press the
battery connector onto a 9V alkaline battery
(purchase separately). Place battery in the battery
holder.

CHECK THERMOSTAT
OPERATION
. Do not check heating system operation by
thermostat terminals at the primary
control. This will damage the thermostat. The
primary control is usually a gas valve, a relay
or burner control
located behind the
furnace cover, an Aquastat controller or zone
valve with the thermostat wires connected to
. To avoid
compressor damage, do
not operate the cooling system if the outside
temperature is below 50° F [1 O“ C]. See com-
pressor manufacturer’s instructions for further
information.

CHECKING HEATfNG OPERATION
