Formatting the hard drive will result in permanent loss of all images 

and other information (for example, text and audio) recorded on the 
hard drive.

(Optional) Connect the HRDV16/8 to a PC via a modem, null modem, or Ethernet for 
remote operation. For more information, refer to the 

HRDV RAS User Guide

.

7.

Configure the HRDV16/8 for desired operation. See 

Chapter 4

 to 

Chapter 14

 for 

detailed information, or see 

Chapter 5, Easy Configurator

 for an overview of the quick 

setup procedure.

Format the hard drive again (see 

step 4

 above).

To start recording, press 

REC

 on the HRDV16/8 front panel, then enter a user name 

and password when prompted.

Connecting the HRDV16/8 to Peripherals

Figure 3-1

 shows the rear panel connections on the HRDV16. Follow the instructions in 

Table 3-1

 to connect the HRDV16 to all peripherals.

Note

The HRDV8 rear panel looks the same as the HRDV16 except that it has 8 
analog video inputs, 8 analog video outputs, and 8 alarm inputs.
