CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES

The index line on the cam sprocket must be flush
with the cylinder head surface as shown.
If the index line on the cam sprocket is not flush
with the cylinder head surface, rotate the crankshaft
one full turn (360
°
) and align the "T" mark again.
Install the following:
– Left crankcase cover (page 11-9)
– Cylinder head cover (page 9-25)
Coat a new O-ring with oil and install it to the timing
hole cap.
Apply oil to the timing hole cap threads and install it
to the right crankcase cover.
Tighten the timing hole cap to the specified torque.
CYLINDER HEAD COVER REMOVAL
Remove the luggage lower box (page 3-16).
Turn the drive face (crankshaft) counterclockwise
and align the "T" mark on the compression stroke
(page 9-6).
Remove the following:
– Bolt, spark plug wire clamp
– Bolt, water hose clamp
– Spark plug cap
Remove the bolts, rubber washers and cylinder
head cover.
Align
TORQUE: 6 N·m (0.6 kgf·m, 4.4 lbf·ft)
