6. Use a brush to remove carbon deposits
from the spark arrester screen. Be careful to
avoid damaging the screen.
The spark arrester must be free of breaks
and holes. Replace the spark arrester if
it is damaged.
7. Install the spark arrester, muffler cover, top
cover, and recoil starter in the reverse order
of disassembly.
Cooling Fin Inspection
Inspect the engine cooling fins, and clean out
any dirt and debris.
If it is necessary to remove the top cover for
better access to the cooling fins, follow
disassembly steps 1 through 3 on page 23.
Throttle Cable
Inspection
Verify the throttle trigger operates smoothly and
the throttle cable is undamaged. If there is
visible damage, or if the throttle trigger does not
operate smoothly, have your authorized Honda
servicing dealer replace the throttle cable.
Check the free play at the end of the throttle
cable. Free play should be 0 ~ 1/16 in
(0 ~ 2 mm). If adjustment is needed, use the
following cable adjustment procedure.
Adjustment
1. Loosen the lock nut with a 10 mm wrench,
and turn the adjusting nut in or out as
required.
2. Tighten the lock nut and recheck cable
free play.
