Engine Oil

Changing Engine Oil

Mainten

nce

Changing Engine Oil

Changing the oil requires special tools. We
recommend that you have your motorcycle
serviced by your dealer.

If the engine is cold, idle the engine for
3 to 5 minutes.

Turn the ignition switch off, and wait for
2 to 3 minutes.

Place your motorcycle on a firm, level
surface.

Place a drain pan under the drain bolt.

Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick, drain bolt
and sealing washer to drain the oil.

Discard the oil at an approved recycling
center.

Install a new sealing washer onto the
drain bolt. Tighten the drain bolt.

Fill the crankcase with the recommended
oil (

P. 43, 114) and install the oil fill cap/

dipstick.

Check the oil level.

P. 54

Check that there are no oil leaks.

Torque:

18 lbf·ft (25 N·m, 2.5 kgf·m)

Required oil

When changing oil:

1.6 US qt (1.5 liters)

Sealing washer
