Flooded Engine
Starting & Stopping the Engine
Basic Operation & Riding
If
Your Engine Quits or Won’t Start,
Extended use of the choke may impair
piston and cylinder wall lubrication and
damage the engine.
Push the choke lever forward all the
way to fully OFF.
Open the throttle fully.
Press the start button for 5 seconds.
If the engine starts, quickly close the
throttle, then open it slightly if idling is
unstable.
If the engine does not start, wait 10
seconds, then follow the normal starting
procedure with the choke OFF.
If the engine still won’t start, refer to
page
.
Snapping the throttle or fast idling for
more than about 5 minutes at normal air
temperature may cause exhaust pipe
discoloration.
If the engine fails to start after repeated
attempts, it may be flooded with excess
fuel. To clear a flooded engine:
Leave the engine stop switch set to
RUN.
