OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Intended use
• This device is intended for the preparation of espresso and hot beverages. Any other use may lead to
damage or injury.
Unpacking and checking
• Carefully take the device and its accessories out of the packaging. Retain the packaging in case you would
like to store the device away or transport it at a later date. If you choose to dispose of the packaging, then
please do so according to the applicable legal regulations.
• Check the packaging contents for completeness and damages. Should the contents in the packaging not be
complete or be damaged, do not use the device. Return it to your retail outlet immediately.
Preparation of the espresso machine
• Place the device on a level, stable and non-slip surface.
• Clean the device before preparing your first espresso, if it has not been used for a longer period, or after
descaling.
• Clean all parts (filter, filter holder, drip tray grid, drip tray) as described in the section
CLEANING AND CARE
.
• Wipe the steam/hot water jet (6) and the brew head (15) with a damp cloth.
• Lift the lid of the water tank (3) and remove the tank. Fill with fresh water up to the
MAX
line.
• Take care not to overfill the water tank. Re-insert the water tank and push it down lightly.

Please note:
Never operate the device with an empty water tank, and always refill it as soon as the water
level is a few centimeters from the bottom of the tank.
• You may also fill the water tank without removing it from the device. Pour the water from a jug directly into
the water tank.
• Swing the steam/hot water jet (6) out and place a jug underneath.
• Attach the empty filter holder (10) to the brew head (15). Start with the handle of the filter holder pointing to
the left, and then turn it to the right until it is locked in place. Place a bowl under the filter holder.
• Connect the power plug (7) to an appropriate outlet. Make sure the steam/hot water control (4) is in the
STEAM OFF
position. Turn the function knob (5) to position
(heating). The indicator light (2) will come
on. Wait until the device has finished heating. When it is ready to operate, the
OK
indicator light (1) will come
on.
• Now turn the function knob (5) to the position, and allow ca. 2 cups of water to flow into the bowl.
• Then turn the steam/hot water control (4) counterclockwise. Hot water will flow from the steam/hot water
jet (6). Allow ca.1 cup of water to flow into the jug.

Important!
Never use the steam/hot water jet continuously for more than 20 seconds.
• Return the control to the
STEAM OFF
position, and turn the function knob to the
position.
• Repeat the cleaning cycle three times.
• Turn the function knob to the (off) position when you have finished cleaning the device.
