Driving and Operating

Using Cruise Control on Hills

How well the cruise control works
on hills depends upon the vehicle
speed, load, and the steepness of
the hills. When going up steep hills,
you might have to step on the
accelerator pedal to maintain the
vehicle speed. When going
downhill, you might have to brake or
shift to a lower gear to maintain the
vehicle speed. When the brakes are
applied the cruise control is
disengaged.

Ending Cruise Control

There are three ways to end cruise
control:

Step lightly on the brake pedal;
when cruise control disengages,
the indicator light will not be lit.

to turn the cruise

control system off completely.
The cruise control cannot be
resumed.

Erasing Speed Memory

The cruise control set speed is
erased from memory by pressing

or if the vehicle is turned off.

Driver Assistance
Systems

Ultrasonic Parking Assist

The Ultrasonic Parking Assist (UPA)
system assists the driver with
parking and avoiding objects while
in R (Reverse). UPA operates at
speeds less than 8 km/h. The
sensors on the rear bumper detect
objects up to 2.5 m behind the
vehicle, and at least 20 cm off the
ground and below boot level. The
detection distance may be less
during warmer or humid weather.

The parking assist system does
not detect children, pedestrians,
cyclists, animals, or objects
located below the bumper or that
are too close or too far from the
vehicle. It is not available at
speeds greater than 8 km/h. To
