5.19 Changing Hydraulic Fluid
& Flushing Tank
WARNING
ALWAYS DEPRESSURIZE THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BEFORE
REMOVING ANY HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS, HOSES OR
FITTINGS. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS
INJURY OR DEATH.
NOTICE:

BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE,
M A K E S U R E T H E WAT E R B L A S T I N G S Y S T E M I S
SHUTDOWN WITH THE TRUCK IN THE SERVICE POSITION
AND ON LEVEL GROUND.
•
MAKE SURE THE HYDRAULIC TANK, FILTERS AND ALL
RELATED COMPONENTS ARE THOROUGHLY CLEANED
BEFORE SERVICING TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION.
•
MAKE SURE ALL PARTS ARE CLEAN BEFORE FINAL
ASSEMBLY.
Drain & Flush the hydraulic tank and replace
the filter:
1. Make sure the hydraulic system is not pressur-
ized and the fluid is cool.
2. Remove the fill cap to allow air to enter the tank
as the fluid drains.
3. Drain the tank into a suitable container by
removing one of the hydraulic lines on the hy-
drostatic motor.
4. When the tank is drained, use a bright light to
inspect for sludge buildup and other contami-
nation.
5. Loosen the four bolts for the filter plate on the
top of the reservoir. Be careful as you remove
the bolts. A spring that holds the filter element
in position will provide tension on the plate.
6. Remove the spring and element. Then flush the
filter canister and tank until they are clean using
fresh hydraulic fluid.
7. Install a new filter element, insert the spring
and install the plate. Tighten bolts in a criss-
cross pattern to secure the plate.
8. Flush the tank again with fresh fluid to remove
contaminates from installing the filter element.
9. Install the removed hydraulic line.
10.
Add fluid until the tank is full. Monitor the fluid
level using the sight gauge.
11. Replace the fill cap and tighten.
