S Meter Calibration
On the HF bands, 160
– 10M, S9 is defined as -73dBm or 50uv into 50 ohms. A signal level
change of 1 S unit is a 6dB change. If an S9 signal is -73dBm, an S7 signal is -85dBm. A sig-
nal that is S9 +20 is -53dBm.
To calibrate the S meter, select a fre-
quency in the amateur radio band.
Set the mode to CW and add a nar-
row filter. At the selected frequency,
apply a -73dBm signal to the antenna
input of the IQ32.
