10 Mid/High Out
This is an alternative output that may be used to connect ELEMENTS
mid/ high units (E 835/E 435) via an NL2 speaker cord – but only when
the E-Connect bus is not in use. Heads up:
Always use just one of the ports to connect mid/high units - either
the E-Connect outputs (see section 3) or the Mid/High Out!
Caution: If you connect any other device, you stand a good chance of
destroying it and the E 210 SUB AS
11 Mains
Use the factory-included IEC mains cord to connect this socket to a wall
outlet
Tip: The AS E 210 SUB is equipped with a V-Lock mains cord retainer.
If you use an optionally available Volex locking cord or another brand of
cord with a compatible design, you can lock the mains cord in place to
prevent accidental disconnection.
2 Passive Components
E 835/E 435 – Mid/High-Unit
Each of these mid/ high units is loaded with four or eight 3.5“ high-
performance speakers developed specifically for ELEMENTS. These
four or eight vertically arrayed speakers achieve a very even pattern of
throw, with the volume, frequency spectrum, and audio image remaining
uniform throughout the audience area. One column may comprise up
to six E 435 and/or three E 835 mid/ high units, which are quickly and
reliably connected via E-Connect.
3 Setting Up and Connecting
Cables
E-Connect
The E-Connect audio bus/ mechanical coupler lets you connect the
AS E 210 SUB to other passive
ELEMENTS components without
any additional loudspeaker cords.
One E-Connect sleeve is located
in the top panel of the E 210 SUB
AS. If you wish to set the unit on its
side, there is also another sleeve on
the left side panel.
Each mid/ high unit that you want to connect has an E-Connect coupler
on its bottom panel. Insert it into the E 210 SUB AS’s E-Connect sleeve.
The mid/ high unit’s E-Connect shaft has a detent button that locks into
place in the E 210 SUB AS’s E-Connect sleeve. This coupler connects
the two components mechanically and the integrated bus routes the
audio signal through without any additional cords. To separate the two
components, press the detent button and disengage the two modules.
Connecting Cables
Use a mic cord equipped with XLR connectors or 1/4” (6.3 mm) jack
plugs to route the signal from your mixer (via master out, line out, or a
similar circuit) to the balanced input. If you want to add another L SUB
1200 to the setup, connect it to the Sub Out speaker port using an NL4
speaker cord. Use the Through port to route the fullrange signal on to
other speakers.
4 Powering Up
Caution! Make sure the local mains voltage matches the voltage
specified on the E 210 SUB AS. Connecting it to the wrong mains
voltage may destroy its electronic components.
• Make certain that the E 210 SUB AS is switched off.
• Set the Bass Gain knob to the 12 o’clock position (0 dB/ center-
notched).
• Connect the however many ELEMENTS mid/ high units you want to
use to the AS E 210 SUB, either via the E-Connect audio bus/ coupler
or with the help of the Mid/High Out speaker ports on the rear panel.
Heads up: Always use just one of the ports to connect mid/high units -
either the E-Connect outputs (see section 3) or the Mid/High Out!
• Adjust the Mid/High Filter to match the number of ELEMENTS mid/
high units in your setup.
• Power up all connected peripheral components first. In other words,
the connected mixer as well as all signal sources connected to it -
keyboards, instrument amps, effects and the like - should be switched
on first.
• Switch on the E 210 SUB AS last, after you power up all connected
devices.
• When you flip the Power switch to On, the fan will start up briefly for
a system check and switch off after around five seconds. The fan
is temperature-controlled. It kicks on only at very high volumes and
switches off when the temperature drops to a certain level. During this
system check, the Status LED lights up red for about five seconds. It
will light up green if there is no error and the system is getting mains
power.
• When switching the system off, proceed in reverse order; that is,
switch the E 210 SUB AS off first, before all other connected devices.
