VICE VERSA
The so-called VICE VERSA outputsignal is a special crossover configuration, which is only applicable, if the LINE OUT of the HIFONICS
X4-COLOSSUS amplifier should be used to provide an audiosignal to an additional amplifier. Hence, the complete crossover settings
for both amplifiers are only done by the HIFONICS X4-COLOSSUS amplifier. Thereby no crossover settings on amplifier 2 are necessary,
because amplifier 2 gets a already modificated signal by the HIFONICS X4-COLOSSUS amplifier.
In LP/BP-Mode (Example 1) a highpass signal will be transferred to amplifier 2.
In HP-Mode (Example 2) a lowpass signal will be transferred to amplifier 2.
Here are two examples for the VICE VERSA function:
INTERCONNECTION EXAMPLES: VICE VERSA
HiFONICS X4-COLOSSUS
for subwoofer operation (mono)
AMPLIFIER 2 (any device)
for stereo-speaker-system (high pass-mode)
Connect to head unit
CINCH/RCA LINE OUT
CINCH/RCA LINE IN
Settings HiFONICS X4-COLOSSUS amplifier:
The X4-COLOSSUS amplifier must be in LP/BP mode, this means the on this amplifier
interconnected speaker or subwoofer is provided with a lowpass/bandpass-signal.
Now the VICE VERSA outputsignal on LINE OUT could be modified by the HIGH PASS-
controller of the X4-COLOSSUS amplifier.
Settings amplifier 2:
The additional amplifier must be switched to FULL or FLAT mode (full range) for
the regular loudspeaker operation.
The crossover settings will be taken over by the X4-COLOSSUS amplifier. Only
the level controllers needs to be aligned accordingly. Check in this case the
owner’s manual of the regarding amplifier.
NOTE:
If amplifier 2 owns a variable lowpass-filter, it’s possible to generate a
bandpass-signal (e.g. for providing kickbass woofers).
ADVANTAGE:
This VICE VERSA-constellation allows you to use the high power effciency of a X4-COLOSSUS amplifier for the interconnected subwoofer and allows to use at the same time the
very high-valued highpass filter (variable between 10-4000 hz). The audiophile sound characteristics will be transferred to amplifier 2. Hence, amplifier 2 works as pure power-
amplifier without any pre-amplifier modifications and provides the usual X4-amplifier high-end-sound for the interconnected speakers, without beeing a X4-model.
As a matter of course this constellation also works with two X4-models.

subsonic 10 - 150 Hz and 12/24dB octave slopes ) for amplifier 2, which receives a already modified audiosignal. Hence, amplifier 2 works as pure power-amplifier without any
