IMPORTANT: An orchestrated firmware update requires that the current firmware and the new firmware are
compatible for a nondisruptive update. If the Orchestrated firmware update fails, HPE OneView advises that the
Orchestrated firmware update was not complete and that a Parallel firmware update is required. If the firmware
update fails, the installed firmware will not change, and functionality of the storage module and connection
module will continue uninterrupted.

b. Parallel— A Parallel firmware update requires that the storage module and all connected compute modules be powered

down to update the firmware.

4. Select a Firmware baseline option.

5. Select a shared infrastructure option in the Update firmware for field.

6. Select a Logical interconnect activation option.

7. Click OK.

Modifying local storage

Expanding local storage

Local storage can be expanded by adding new logical JBODs or logical drives, depending on how the local storage is
configured within the HPE OneView server profile. You cannot edit an existing logical drive or logical JBOD. You can add a new
logical JBOD or logical drive to the server profile, but the compute module must be powered off.

NOTE: The maximum logical JBOD limit is 108 per Synergy frame. This number includes external logical drives.

There are three ways to expand local storage:

•

Manually managed

•

HBA

•

RAID

Expanding local storage also includes adding drives to the storage module when there are empty bays. Extra storage modules
can also be added to an existing HPE Synergy 12000 Frame without powering off the existing compute modules.

IMPORTANT:

• Drives added to the storage module are not automatically zoned to compute module and remain unassigned until

added to a server profile.

• Drives are detected automatically in the Composer.

Manually managed

A user can manually manage expanding local storage by doing the following:
