the heater to be mounted between 50° and 70° from vertical and should not be mounted outside these
parameters. The Herschel Aspect XL is designed to be mounted horizontally on a wall.

The heater is not designed for ceiling mounting.
In areas with air movement/wind the directional Far Infrared spread may reduce by 1/3 to 1/2. In these
areas we recommend mounting at the lowest recommended height (see diagram 1) and proportionally
increasing the number of heaters.
CAUTION:
•
Ensure mains power is OFF before commencing installation.
•
Heater must not be located immediately below a socket outlet.
•
Joists, beams and rafters shall not be cut or notched to install the appliance.
•
Do not install the Aspect XL into a ceiling recess, nor adjacent to a heater that has been ceiling-
recessed.
•
The identification mark and model reference should be visible after installation.
•
The Herschel XL must not be attached so as to face or be close to any combustible material (eg, wood
or PVC cladding, fascia or soffit).
•
The fixed wiring insulation coming into contact with parts with a temperature rise of greater than 50°C
must be protected, for example, by sleeving having an appropriate temperature rating.

EXTERIOR USE:
The unit is protected against water ingress (protection level IPX4), however it is recommended that the unit
is installed in a covered outdoor area to give maximum protection and longevity against the effects of driving
rain, wind, frost, salt water contamination, etc. The canopy/roof/cover must be of a permanent nature,
there must be a minimum clearance of 0.3m (12”) between the cover and any part of the Herschel XL and
the cover must extend a minimum of 2m (79”) from the wall.
INITIAL USE:
Before first use, ensure protective aluminium grill is free of fingerprints and other contamination before
turning on heater for the first time. Handling of the grill can lead to the aluminium to discolour when in use.
There may be an odour or vapour from the heater on initial use or if heater has not been used for an
extended period. This is normal and is a result of a build up of dust.
USER MAINTENANCE:
The Herschel Aspect XL is maintenance free but to maintain appearance it should occasionally be cleaned
all over with a soft dry cloth. No abrasive cloths or cleaners should be used and appliances such as pressure
washers, steam cleaners, etc, should never be used. Cleaning should only be done when the unit is cold and
