B. Facing Requirements
There are two options to

nish the front facing on the
fi
replace, outside
fi
t surround and inside
fi
t surround.

Outside Fit Surround
The outside
fi
t surround design is used for facing materials
less than 3/4 inch for combustibles, and less than one inch
for non-combustibles. The surround is designed to
fi
t
fl
ush on
fi
nishing materials. Hearth & Home Technologies approved
cabinets or 1/2 inch
fi
nishing materials are recommended.
See Figure 13.3.
Adjust
fi
replace position if facing material is other than 1/2
inch thick.

Inside Fit Surround
The inside
fi
t surround design is used with
fi
nishing
materials greater than 3/4 inch for non-combustible
fi
nishing. The surround is designed to set back on
fi
nishing
materials. See Figure 13.5.
To cut the arch use the dimensions shown in Figure 13.6.
WARNING! Risk of Fire! DO NOT
apply combustible
materials beyond the minimum clearances. Comply with
all minimum clearances to combustibles as speci
fi
ed in
this manual. Overlapping materials could ignite and will
interfere with proper operation of doors and louvers.
NOTICE:
For Outside Fit Surrounds

Surface temperatures are hot around
fi
replace opening.
•
Facing material
fi
nishes may discolor or peel if not suited
to temperatures above 200º F.
• Facing and/or
fi
nishing materials must not interfere with
air
fl
ow through louvers, operation of louvers or doors,
or access for service.
• Facing and/or
fi
nishing materials must never overhang
into the glass opening.
• Observe all clearances when applying combustible
materials.
