7.1.2 Connection to a CANopen/DeviceNet bus system
Up to 126 AEDs can be connected to the same bus line via the CANopen interface, and up
to 62 AEDs via DeviceNet. In both cases, the factory-set bus address is 63 and the bit
rate 125kBit/s.

The max. cable length is the total line length, calculated from the length of all the stub
lines per node (bus nodes) and the line length between the nodes. The length of the stub
lines for each node (Fig. 7.4) is limited and depends on the bit rate used (see additional
CAN bus documentation: CiA DS102 V2.0 and DeviceNet: DeviceNet Specification Vol­
ume 1, Appendix B, Cable profiles).
The recommended bus wiring is shown in Fig. 7.3.

The interface driver of the AED is based on the 0V connection of the supply voltage. The
interface driver of the master must also be based on this potential. Use a shielded cable
as the bus cable. Another option for connecting stub lines is shown in Fig. 7.4.
