LGGUY1000 Features
Model LGGUY1000 Underwater Lighting Niche is intended for installation in pools or spas with floors and walls formed of gunite or concrete (shotcrete) with a
concrete reinforced by steel rebar. The LGGUY1000 offers these unique features:
1. 3/4 inche (2 cm) set-back plaster flange with tie-off holes to secure to rebar and ensure positive positioning during guniting.
2. Unique 90° ledge at the flange prevents “slumping” during plastering.
3. Gunite / Plaster shield included with each niche, protects the niche and light mounting arrangement during gunite and plaster.
4. The UCL underwater lighting niche does not require bonding or grounding per UL Listing and NEC 680.23, for approved low voltage systems.
5. The LGGUY1000 small diameter niche has extra space for easy coiling and storage of the remaining cord.
Positioning and Securing
1. Position the LGGUY1000 between adjacent rebar such that the niche is held on four sides by sections of rebar. At the time the niches are installed it may be
necessary to add sections of rebar or move existing sections to one side or another in order to ensure that the niche is held securely. The “Top “of the niche
must be at the top, for proper light distribution.
NOTICE: THE NEC REQUIRES THAT THE TOP OF THE LIGHT LENS BE AT LEAST 4 INCHES (10 CM) BELOW THE WATER LEVEL.
2. Once the niche has been securely positioned (wedged) in the rebar, it must be securely tied to the rebar with tie wire. Before tying the niche in place, make
certain that niche is vertically plumb, and square to the form and that the outlet of the niche (where the conduit is to be connected) is rotated such that the
TOP of the niche is on top. The tie down flange of the niche is provided with 5/16” diameter holes through which tie wire may be routed to facilitate securing
to the rebar. Once the niche is tied in place, confirm that it is still plumb and that the distance from the outer wall to the niche flange is the correct beam
dimension.
NOTE: The rebar will be approximately 2 inches (5 cm) from where the inside finished surface of the pool or spa will be. You must be sure to leave approxi-
mately 2 inches (5 cm) between the LGGUY1000 front flange and the rebar.
3. After attaching the niche to the rebar in the pool or spa wall, cement conduit and conduit fittings in place using approved PVC primer and cement.
