You will need to exert a similar pressure on the foot pedal as was used to
initially clamp the workpiece.

Clamping on one side of the jaw
On occasion large or awkward workpieces can only be clamped on one side of the
jaws. If this is the case then avoid excessive use of clamping force. (See fig. 15)
Clamping square tubing
Clamping square tubing or similar material either on the diagonal or flat side using
the grooves in the jaw pads for alignment. (See fig. 16)
Clamping square pieces vertically
On occasion tubing or other square workpieces need to be clamped vertically on
the centre of the jaws.
Use the grooves on the jaw pad to align the workpiece. A hole accommodates
workpieces up to 15 3/4 in (4 cm) wide to be clamped vertically. (See fig. 17)
