Insert the system cover with a slight twist into the
bayonet of the packing piece and screw in tight
clockwise (red clamping nut must not be tighte-
ned at this point) (see fi g.: 10).

The red clamping nut is then tightened clockwise by
hand or with the SLS 6G(D) fl exible socket wrench
until fl ush with the packing piece and the marking
arrows on the system cover should match up with
the arrows on the square frame of the packing
piece (see fi g.: 11).

Push the shrink sleeve onto the nozzle of the system
cover. Clean any contamination from the cable using
KR60 cable cleaner and check the sealing face for
damage (see fi g.: 12).

Thread cable until the desired connection length
(see fi g.: 13).

For the HSI150 D1x80 system cover, the centring
conveyor supplied is wrapped around the cable/
pipe until the centre of the cover socket is reached.
The centring conveyor is then pushed into the cover
socket until it is fl ush, while doing so, pull back the
shrink sleeve slightly (see fi g.: 14).

For the HSI150 D3x58 system cover, the centring
conveyor supplied is cut into three equal pieces and
the cable/pipe is lined in layers until the centre of
the cover socket is reached. The centring conveyor
is then pushed into the cover socket until it is fl ush,
while doing so, pull back the shrink sleeve slightly
(see fi g.: 15).

After a brief cooling time, the shrinking process is
completed from the socket end in the direction of
the cable/pipe (do not continue to heat the part
that has already been fi tted) (see fi g.: 17).
The shrink-fi t procedure is complete once the shrink
sleeve covers the cable/pipe without any folds and
the hot-melt adhesive has been discharged all the
way round.
9 Assembly: Cold shrink-fi t method

Thread cable as described at pos. 6 work stage 6
and centre if necessary as described in work stages
7a and 7b.
The shrink-fi tting is carried out starting from the co-
ver socket towards the cable/pipe by sliding the cold
shrink sleeve over the cable/pipe until it reaches the
cover socket. Hold this in place with one hand while

damaged (see fi g.: 9)!
* 1 HSI-ZB centering tape is included in scope of
delivery.

Slide the heat shrink sleeve over the cable/pipe until
it reaches the cover socket.
Start the shrink-fi t procedure beginning at the cover
socket and moving in the direction of the cable/pipe
(shrink-fi t temperature approx. 120 - 140 °C)
(see fi g.: 16). Then let the shrink sleeve cool.
The shrink-fi t procedure is complete once the shrink
sleeve covers the socket without any folds and the
hot-melt adhesive has been discharged all the way
round.
For the HSI150 D3x58 and HSI150 D7x33 system
covers, repeat this process according to the number
of sockets. Sockets that are not in use should be
sealed with VS 58/60 or VS 32/34 blind plugs, at
the same time, tighten screw by hand as far as it
will go (see fi g.: 20).

Before applying the heat shrink sleeve to the
cover sockets, it is recommended for smooth
cable sheaths made of PVC, PE, VPE or EPR/DIN
EN 50393 VDE 0278-393 to roughen the cables
uniformly all around using an emery cloth (P
80 to P 120) over a length of 6-8 cm in the
later shrink area of the heat shrink sleeve and
then to clean the cables using a cable cleaner.
Please note: The cable manufacturers' notes
and instructions for use must be observed when
roughing the cables!
