4.6.2.2
External Interlocks
All interlocks are dealt with at the cabinet level and enter through J1, 6-9 and J1-11.
LEDs located on the Life Support board will illuminate, and a summary fault is sent to
the CPLD. The Exciter Mute interlock at J1-4 will mute the on-air Exciter when LOW.
4.6.2.3
Driver Circuits
Voltage, current, temperature and RF samples from the Driver(s) enter at J2 and are sent
to the Main Controller through connector J5.
The Driver Disable circuit will receive an active LOW signal from the Driver/Exciter to
indicate RF_OK_L. If either of these signals go HIGH the CPLD will send a Driver
Switch command (for transmitters with dual Drivers) at J3, 18 or 19 to change the Drive
Switch away from the faulty Driver/Exciter, and to disable the faulty Driver at J3, 28-
29. The signals to the switch are labeled A_MODE_CMD and B_MODE_CMD.
4.6.2.4
Remote Control Interface
The inputs and outputs for remote control are protected from transients by diodes,
inverters and output AND gates connected as buffers. These inputs/outputs are
connected to the CPLD through their protection circuits.
4.6.2.5
Exciter Control
The Main Controller will have first priority for Exciter control. If the Main Controller
has failed the Life Support will take over. The outputs to the Exciter come from J3 on
the Life Support board. The commands source from the CPLD except the Main
Controller Equalization Reset (MC_EQ_RESET) and the Main Controller Equalization
Hold (MC_EQ_HOLD). Hold is used when the Transmitter is turned OFF and will
freeze the equalization to the last state before turn-off.
The Mute command is usually activated from the Main Controller. I the Main
Controller fails, the Mute command is active on the enabled exciter when a VSWR
occurs, during a Driver Switch command, or as a result of a switch fault or external
Mute. This Mute is disabled during VSWR Calibration.
