The Model HI6850 can be configured with either a HI6130 4.3-inch (67 x 105mm) color TFT
touchscreen screen or a HI6150 7-inch (100 x 165mm) color TFT touchscreen for operation,
setup, and user-friendly graphics. The larger front panel display is ideal for dynamic
checkweighing, batch control, rate control, and belt applications.
1.2 Theory of Operation
A factory control system typically consists of a controller (
, PAC, DCS, IACS), process
instrumentation and sensors. Figure 1-1 shows the primary components of a control system.
Figure 1-1. Example of a Basic Control System
In a weight-based control system, the weighing instrumentation is at the core of the process.
The primary function of the instrument is to generate accurate, stable, and fast weight data
and, in many cases, administer the direct control over the process through the actuation of
valves and solenoids, controlling motor speeds, and monitoring the state of inputs from
sensors such as photo-eyes, flow meters, and tachometers.
Figure 1-2 shows the functionally of the various components of a weight-based control
system, with detail on the instrumentation.
