General Information on Night Vision Devices
This electro-optical device aids in viewing objects in near or total darkness, by
amplifying the existing light of the moon or stars. If no light is present, the illumi-
nator acts as an external light source.
When viewing an object through the Goggles, you are actually seeing an image
that is projected from the intensifier tube within the device. The objective lens
captures the external light and directs it to the front of the intensifier tube. The
battery power source then passes energy through the intensifier tube, causing
electrons to strike the phosphor screen. The image in the intensifier tube is then
magnified by the eyepiece.
Night Vision Goggles are excellent for viewing wildlife, search and rescure
operations, surveillance, boating safety, home security and camping.
Operation
All numbered parts refer to those listed in the Product Features and Assembly
Diagram on Page 6.
Installing the Battery
Unscrew the cap to the Battery Compartment [6]. Insert one 3-Volt battery.
Replace cap tightly. Never remove the lens caps in bright or semi-bright conditions.
1.
Before taking your Goggles out into a dark environment, check that they are
working properly. Depress the Power Switch [5] green button, and hold for 2-3
seconds. You should see a green glow when you look through the Eyepieces
[3]. Do not remove lens caps until you are in a dark or near-dark environment.
Note: The small red LED above each eyepiece indicates power is on.
2.
In a near dark environment, remove the lens caps from the Objective Lenses
[1] and depress the Power Switch, holding it continuously while viewing. If you
are in an environment with almost no external light, press the Illuminator
Switch [7] red button, to activate the Illuminator [2]. Note: the sliding switch
above the Illuminator tube is low/high illuminator output.
3.
Turn the Eyepieces and the Objective Lenses to bring objects into focus. The
Illuminator lens turns in and out to vary the width of the beam.
4.
When you have finished using the Goggles, turn off the Illuminator Switch and
release the Power Switch. Note: Make sure you turn off the Illuminator Switch,
as it will drain the battery quickly,
5.
Replace lens caps immediately.
6.
If the Night Vision Goggles fail to work properly, they should be taken to an
optical service technician for repair; do not try to service the unit yourself.
