Setting the level of water
hardness
Hard water leads to calcification of the dish-
washer, to more consumption of detergent
and to unattractive limescale on the crockery.
The purpose of the dishwasher salt is to pre-
vent this. To ensure the correct dishwasher
salt dosage, you must set the water hardness
level. You should do this preferably before the
first use.
Determining the hardness level
To determine the water hardness in your
place of residence, you can check on the
– website of your water provider.
– telephone your water supplier.
– purchase the relevant test strip at a phar-
macy.
Setting the hardness level
1. Close the dishwasher door.
2. Switch it on with the On/Off button (2) and
begin setting the hardness level within
one minute of switching it on.
3. Hold the start/pause button
(12) in until
the displays
(9) and
(10) blink alter-
nately.
4. Press the start/pause button
(12) as
many times as necessary to display the
required hardness level.
The relevant hardness level will be shown via
the programme displays (3):

5. Around 5 seconds after you push it for the
last time, the dishwasher will automatical-
ly revert to the normal display.
The hardness level setting is saved.
Adding dishwasher salt
You do not need to add dishwasher
salt to the dishwasher salt dispenser,
– if you are only using multitabs which al-
ready contain dishwasher salt,
– if the water hardness in your area is in the
0–5° dH range.
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
You may damage the dishwasher, its
seals and fi lter and its stainless steel
surface by using dishwasher salt in an
improper manner.

Only use regenerating salt which is
suitable for dishwashers.
■
Always wipe away split dishwasher
salt immediately with a damp cloth.
■
Immediately after adding the dish-
washer salt, launch a dishwashing
programme.
